Isa & Jim

[Winston-Salem, NC]

It was truly a delight to be with Isa and Jim as they celebrated their engagement in Reynolda Gardens. These two are world travelers with a passion for foreign language and trying new recipes. Oh, and they just radiate love. If you see Isa and Jim around enjoying the golden hour light (it's their favorite) be sure to tell them congratulations, they've got something good.

Her Stories

[Wake Forest University]

Wake Forest University Humanities Institute partnered with the School of Medicine to host Her Stories, an interdisciplinary symposium on breast cancer narratives and counter-narratives. Surgeons, oncologists, journalists, researchers and others whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer gathered to discuss the implications of breast cancer culture on patient care.

Speak-Out

[Wake Forest University]

Wake Forest University support students impacted by sexual violence at the 21st annual Speak-Out. The event sponsored by PREPARE was held in Wait Chapel on Thursday, February 28, 2013. PREPARE stands for Policy Group on Rape Education, Prevention and Response.

There are not words in times like these, in moments that goodness all but disappears. But words mean comfort, they have the capacity to mend and heal. I was overcome by the sanctity of this event. My heart aches with those impacted by sexual violence, I only pray they might encounter such a ceremony of affirmation and healing.

Travel Light

Six years ago I had a dream.

A mentor told me about the Camino de Santiago de Compostela-- a 500 mile pilgrimage across the mountains, vineyards, plains, and beaches of northern Spain. Travelers make the rigorous journey to lay down some burden and discover truth.

From the moment promised myself that I would hike the camino and make a photo-documentary to share the experience with others.

This summer I have the opportunity to make that dream come true.

This summer I will work with Such Tall Tales, LLC to hike and document the Camino de Santiago. You can check out the film's website at www.travelightfilm.com. But here's the catch. As a small, independent film company we need support from sponsors. We've had tremendous support online from "likes" and repostings but what we really need is a collection of small commitments beginning at $1.

We're doing this thing called a Kickstarter. It's a crowdfunding site that allows you to support successful entrepreneurial endeavors. It has a layer of insurance because unless Kickstarters are 100% funded, sponsors' credit cards are not charged.

If you're anything like me, my online shopping habit is a non-issue. Not because I don't "shop" but because I don't purchase. And it's all because of the silly inconvenience of fetching my wallet and typing an impossible string of numbers.

So just this once. Would you inconvenience yourself long enough to set down your laptop or phone and reach for a credit card? It would make the biggest difference for us. In fact, we'll make it even easier... you can just login with your Paypal info. And if that's still not good enough give me a call and I'll type the numbers myself. Either way, together, we can do this!

Here's the link to our Kickstarter.

Oh, I almost forgot the best part. Every sponsor level beginning at $10 receives a rad gift. Most levels include collector edition fine art pieces.

Thanks for your support & buen camino! May goodness follow you wherever you may go.

Happy living,

Lauren
